FORGE is concentrating its research programme on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) implementation. Two desk-based studies provide a focused starting point, with later research stages planned around the evidence they generate.
Diagnostic Innovation for Health Systems Strengthening
A focused programme on how POCUS can be governed, introduced and sustained in routine health services. The initial desk-based studies examine policy and quality assurance. Subsequent workforce and implementation research depends on scientific findings, partners and resources.

The initial policy and governance work is intended to inform future POCUS workforce-readiness studies, assessment of implementation in routine care, and evaluations of quality and sustainability. Later stages will be developed when earlier evidence, supervisors and appropriate institutional arrangements are in place.
