Research governance
Research principles and current governance stage.
FORGE is developing its project-level governance arrangements alongside its research portfolio. The principles below describe the safeguards expected before a proposed study proceeds. They do not imply that any specific protocol, partnership, or ethics application has already been approved.
Before a study begins
Requirements for responsible implementation research.
Ethics and site permissions
Projects involving human participants or identifiable records require assessment under the applicable institutional and national ethics requirements. Recruitment and access to sites depend on the necessary approvals and permissions.
Data access and safeguarding
Data ownership, permissions, storage, sharing, retention, and any cross-border transfers require written project-specific arrangements. Access to participant-level information is restricted to approved uses and authorised researchers.
Research and publication integrity
Study protocols, supervisory responsibilities, research contributions, and dissemination plans should be agreed before work begins. Authorship is determined by contributions and journal criteria. Publication and data release depend on ethics and contractual requirements.
Institutional status
Documentation as the network develops.
FORGE currently presents its named research team and a focused POCUS implementation research programme with two initial desk-based studies. Its advisory board is being formed.
Institutional partners and funders
Partner institutions, signed agreements, and funding relationships will be disclosed when confirmed and cleared for publication.
Legal and hosting information
Organisational registration and institutional-hosting details will be published after verification. Visitors can request current information from the FORGE team.
Project-specific information
Approved protocols, ethics references, supervisors, time commitments, data-access conditions, and publications will be recorded for individual studies as these are established and may be disclosed.
